Io Vedo, Io Vado

In May and June 2023, I studied lithography and book illustration at the Florence School of Fine Arts in Italy.  For the four weeks I was at the school, I created a children’s book style accordion book using lithography and letter press. I wrote a short story and planned each page to go with it. While I am experienced in illustration, it was my first time using the lithograph and letter press. I drew out each page on paper and transferred them to the lithography stone. After printing each page, I printed the text using the letter press. 

During my time in Florence, I traveled to other nearby cities and I took an art history course through the school. While maintaining my style, I incorporated details and designs from the architecture, historical locations, and notable Renaissance artworks.

The story is briefly about my experience traveling to Florence and to other new places, ultimately keeping an open mind to learning and exploring wherever you go.
